During a service in December of 2006, Pastor Andrew was preaching to the congregation of Dwelling Place Ministries, the ministry he and Pastor Denice had been running for three years, and was interrupted by the voice of the Holy Spirit saying, “This is your last service here”. As he obediently shared that with the congregation, the following prophetic utterance came forth, “by the 7th of January next year we will know exactly what God is going to do with us and where He is going to put us”, followed by “North! We are moving north”. He then announced that whoever wanted to find out where and how that would be, that they should meet at their home on the 7th of January 2007. It was discovered to be a Sunday and, on that very Sunday, just as they were about to start to pray, a call came in from Pieter Van Tonder inviting the pastors to meet and discuss the use of their property for ministry that very afternoon. God had given Pieter and Tilla dreams over a three year period about that property having to be used for ministry. Pieter had been challenged by the Lord to buy that property on faith even before his other home was sold and so he knew from the beginning that God had a special plan with it. Needless to say, it was confirmed between the two couples that this was indeed a God-directed thing, and it so turned out that the property was perfectly positioned North of where Dwelling Place Ministries had been located.
A meeting was convened on the Wednesday evening thereafter to discuss the way forward with others who were interested to find out if this was something they wanted to be involved with. After the meeting was opened in prayer, Louis Kilian shared Isaiah 43 verses 16 to 19 as a confirmation he had received earlier that day that this was a new thing that God wanted to do, and Isaiah 43 verse 18 and 19 had also been given to Pastor Andrew in a prophecy in October of 2006. And then for the third witness… it just happened that on that same Sunday afternoon of January 7th, as the pastors were driving out of Pieter’s property, they passed Hempas and Martie Rademeyer who, unknown to them, were given an instruction to purchase a new white chair and place Isaiah 43… yes you guessed it… verses 18 and 19 on it, and place it on the Van Tonder’s tennis court.
The name Spirit Life Ministries was given to Pastor Andrew in a dream in April of 2006. He woke up in the middle of the night to draw exactly what he had seen. At the time he had shared with pastor Denice that he did not understand why God had given him that name but it was possibly for a ministry they might start one day in the future. Little did they realise just how soon that would come to pass. Of course, this name was immediately and unanimously embraced as the name with which to birth the new ministry.
Spirit Life Bible College was birthed at a stage when the ministry had only about 70 members. It was given by Divine instruction to Pastor Andrew who had no previous desire to start a bible college and just three weeks after announcing its launch only at Spirit Life Ministry’s Sunday morning services, a fully operational Bible College was running with 37 students having signed – a number of students from various other churches. Since then Spirit Life Bible College has been equipping students for a life of love and power in the knowledge, wisdom and understanding of God – The Father, The Word and The Spirit. Most students within their second year have seen God working miracles through them. We should be naturally submitted to God and supernaturally natural in spirit and truth. In John 6:63 Jesus said that the words He spoke were SPIRIT and they were LIFE. This only dawned on the pastors after the ministry had been planted, and the revelation of speaking words that were led by God’s Spirit and full of the power of Life became ever more deeply engrained in the collective understanding of the ministry.
The new facility is now a tangible reality. After a long 5 year struggle to get all the municipal approvals, and a few potentially derailing challenges, the building work of the new facility finally started in March 2013, with a ground breaking ceremony on Sunday, March 23rd. Due to God’s great grace and the challenge of great obedience, there was never one call for money to be donated for the building. It has been paid for in full and everyone has become greatly excited for this new facility, having endured patiently in a tent through summer and winter and various moves to different locations. God has been GOOD! As it has been said, “God is as GOOD as He is HOLY”.
